Bentley OpenUtilities CONNECT Edition Help

Salvage Value

Salvage value is the allowed discount for returning materials back into stock. This value is a credit that can be applied to the total design cost whenever the assigned unit is intended for removal. Therefore, salvage value is used in cost calculations only if the unit has a life-cycle status of Proposed Remove. By default, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer ignores the unit's salvage value. The Salvage option is enabled by selecting the Salvage check box on the Compatible Unit Assignment Properties dialog box (see Including Scrap and Salvage Values in Cost Calculations).

For example, if the pole unit PW45-5 has a salvage value of $50.00, costs for removing the unit (using the previous settings) would be calculated as follows:

1 (Removal Man-Hours for De-Energized work type) × $28 (rate for Contractor labor type) = $28.00 × 1.5 (Labor Difficulty Factor) = $42.00 + $100.00 (Removal Equipment Cost = $142.00 - $50.00 (Salvage Value) = $92.00 Removal Labor Cost per unit of measure
